monkeymom's Diaryland Diary

Chicken soup with matzo balls.

Wow, I think today was the best sleeping I had all week! I have been sleeping no more than 5 hours a day this week and then just dragging around because I'm so tired, but today I managed to sleep longer and I feel much better.

Rich had to leave church before it was over to be a judge at a testing day for TaeKwonDo, so even though Rachel was planning to attend the singles ward in the afternoon, she went to our ward first so that she could take over for him in the nursery.

She and PBJ (who apparently, is her new best friend) were planning to go to the singles ward together after church, and he had a SS class to teach in our ward first, so he was also at church, which was fortunate since one of the bishopric came to the nursery to find Rich so that he could be present when Kim was set apart for her new calling (1st counselor in her YW class). He was a little surprised to find that Rich wasn't there, and invited Rachel to be present so that Kim would have someone from her family there, but first they had to think of someone to take over in the nursery for a few minutes. Hmm, who could they ask? Hey, PBJ can do it! So he came in and read to the little nursery kids and then cleaned up the nursery afterward.

Kim went to a sleepover with the Cross Country team girls tonight. I guess it's a bonding experience for them. They are sleeping at one girl's house tonight and all going to X-country practice together in the morning.

I cooked again today; Chicken Soup with Matzo balls. I make a big pot of it, so there was some left over to bring to work tonight. When Rachel got home from the singles ward she had PBJ with her, and they had already eaten - the singles ward serves dinner after church every week! Rachel doesn't usually stay for it since she doesn't know very many people there and doesn't want to sit by herself, looking lonely, (because you know in a singles ward there is no one to talk to), but PBJ wanted to eat and he knows some of the people there, so they stayed and had enchiladas and weren't hungry for my wonderful soup when they got home.

PBJ lives about 40 minutes away and we offered to take him home, but he said his mom was going to pick him up when she was done setting up a booth at the county fair (yeehaw!). He hung around and Rachel and I knitted and we all talked for a couple of hours, and then we watched part of a movie that he had never seen - Blast from the Past - until his father came by to pick him up.

While we were sitting with PBJ, Rachel's friend who was having the big crisis last night called, but since she had company, Rachel said she would call her back later. Well after PBJ left, Rachel ran to the phone to call her back and get the scoop, but she couldn't find her phone number! Darn. So we'll have to wait until tomorrow when Erin reads her email and finds the note from Rachel, asking for her phone number.

Today I am knitting a cotton raglan top-down t-shirt for Rachel. It's in a varigated white and pinky-beige cotton that is spun unevenly so it's thick and thin. It should be a fast knit and I hope to have it done by the end of the week, when Rachel goes back to school.
