monkeymom's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not getting enough sleep. Again.

It was a busy weekend! Rich got home Friday afternoon with a load of Rachel's stuff. He parked the van in the driveway and came in and went right to bed. He is glad his part of the moving is over!

Rachel and Dave left later, and had errands to do before they could start for home, so they didn't get here until later in the evening. They were tired, too, so they didn't do any unpacking until Saturday.

On Saturday the moving in began. I, happily, slept through some of it, but was awake for the experiment in bringing a queen-size box spring up the stairs of an old house. Guess what doesn't work? There was a bit of adventure - they tried bringing the box-spring up over the balcony and through my bedroom, at some risk to life and limb (Dave's), but they couldn't get it up the stairs to Rachel's room, so it's resting in the garage for now.

There are still boxes in the living room, but it's all slowly making its way upstairs. Rachel's room is a huge mess right now, but it's starting to take shape and will be fine in a few days.

She took Dave back to St. Louis yesterday, and got home at about 2 in the morning after having suffered a tire blow-out and changing her tire by the side of the highway in zero-degree weather. My baby! A kind stranger helped her finish the job and followed her back to town - she was almost home when it happened. I wish I could find out who it was; I would make him a pumpkin pie!

Buffy considers Rachel her new best friend and followed her around like a, well, like a puppy all day! Good thing, too, since Rachel will be the one taking her to obedience classes, starting tomorrow. We watched a dog show this weekend and Rachel is All About showing the dog now. It would be kind of fun, so we'll have to find some shows that we can observe, first, and then see about showing the bad dog. Maybe we should finish filling out those registration papers, first, huh? It's been almost a year since we got the dog!
