monkeymom's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In which Kim is money and she doesn't even know it!

So we had a big fun weekend, in which we shopped for yarn, ate a lot, knitted and watched the Food Network. Because that is what we do when Diana comes to visit. Also, we crack each other up because we are the funniest people in the world, at least to each other. Just ask Diana's son Nick. We even got our names in the paper!

The yarn shopping took place in DeKalb at a wonderful store called the Yarn Exchange. It carries Brown Sheep yarns - my favorites - and I brought home enough LIME GREEN wool to make a very bright sweater for Rachel! I bought yarn to make a satchel for Scott's laptop, too, and found a great pattern for a baby/toddler sweater, that Rachel is already knitting!

Before we bought the yarn, we ate at the Thai restaurant across the street. The food was very good, but the most fun thing about that place was the paint on the walls of the ladies room! It was bright pink with white sponged over it. Diana said it looked like a Red Zinger cupcake!

That was on Friday. On Saturday Kim got home from EFY just in time to go to the Pretzel Festival, where we were going in search of fried cheese curds! We got our curds - fresh and hot - and Kim got a temporary tattoo of a butterfly, some cool sunglasses, and she got to throw balls at the dunk tank. She dunked him! Yay! We must have looked like we were having fun, because a reporter interviewed us for the local paper! Today we were mentioned in the paper, with a quote from Diana, but they spelled my name wrong. Oh well, at least they didn't mention my age!

We were sorry to drive Diana to the airport today because we would like her to live right next door to us forever. We dropped her off about noon and Kim drove all the way home from Chicago!

Whew! I was exhausted after the big weekend and I didn't even mention the movies we watched and the knitting we did! I took a nap for a couple of hours, and when I woke up I was making Thai Chicken stir-fry when Diana called to say that she wasn't going to be able to get on a flight home tonight! Yay! Rachel and I went to pick her up and she is staying another day! She can't go home until Tuesday morning! Woot! More knitting! More movies! There may even be some Euchre played!
