monkeymom's Diaryland Diary

Oh, and Kim got her driver's license.

Well, Grandpa won the golf game, or he would have if he had been keeping his own score properly, but with his creative score keeping, Kim managed to win by one point. Kim actually did fine, and Grandpa gave her some tips on her form, which was good. Rachel was frustrated at first because she wasn't playing well, and she wanted to do better, but after a while, she just relaxed and didn't worry about how she played, she was having fun with it.

They are planning to play again this afternoon - Rachel is going to our ward sacrament meeting because we meet in the morning, and her ward meets at 2:30 in the afternoon, but she has to go to work at 10:30. So she is going to sac. meeting with us, then afterward she and I will come back home so she can go to work and I will stay home and make a pot of minestrone soup for lunch for all of us.

Grandma and Grandpa are going to hang out at the motel or go sightseeing this morning while we're in church, then they will meet us back here after church and we'll eat lunch and watch TV or something and when Rachel gets off work at 4 they are going to the golf course again.

We all drove golf carts yesterday when we golfed, which helped us get through the course faster. It was fun! I love driving a golf cart! Bertha and I drove one and followed them around the course, and had a great time. It was a beautiful day, around 70 outside and it was sunny and breezy, and the golf course is so pretty!

Last night G&G went back to the motel about 6 and the rest of us went to Rockford. Kim was meeting the coach and the other girls, who had been at in invitational all day, and they were meeting at a japanese restaurant. It's a team tradition, apparently, and they wanted Kim to be with them, but she didn't go to the invitational because we had company and the coach said it she didn't need to go. The coach said it was important for Kim to golf with her Grandpa that she doesn't see very often. I thought that was nice of her.

We dropped off Rachel at the stake center to practice the roadshow with her ward, and had time to take Kim to the bookstore for a few minutes. After we dropped Kim off at the restaurant, Rich and I got some dinner from McDonalds and just went back and sat in the car at the stake center to talk and wait for Rachel.

It was very nice to sit in the quiet car, enjoy the breeze and look at the harvest moon! The moon was beautiful. We even observed wildlife, when a skunk wandered across the parking lot from a field nearby, and went behind the wall surrounding the air conditioner at the chapel! When Rachel was done, we were all tired and hardly talked on the way home. Kim came back in the van with the team and got here about 11.

The dog was in our room early this morning, waking up Rich, and I heard Rich tell her they were just going for a short walk and then he was going to go back to sleep. When I woke up again later, Rich was back in bed sleeping, so I guess that worked out okay. Yesterday the dog almost had a breakdown when Rich mowed the lawn - she was frantically running from window to window, watching him as he mowed, and whimpering pitifully. Rachel said she was jealous because he was walking the mower instead of the dog.
