monkeymom's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Buffy doesn't like bugs.

Rachel is really sick, and since she started having symptoms of illness after she cleaned the garage, she declared that she had been exposed to mouse poop and had gotten the Hanta virus! I told her that the incubation period was too short and that she must have been coming down with something before she started the garage, and she checked the internets, and yes, it takes a week or three for the Hanta virus to incubate.

We went to Dekalb yesterday so she could visit the student health clinic, and they said that she has a viral infection. There is no drug to fix that, so she has to suffer until it clears up. She has been taking lots of ibuprophen, and last night she took some Nyquil so she could sleep, but I heard her scolding Rich later for buying the green kind instead of the red, because you know how vile that stuff tastes.

Rachel was too sick to walk last night, so I took Kim, and we walked the dog. Rich says there is always drama when we walk the dog, and of course there was, but at least I wasn't injured this time. First there was a beagle who got all crazy when he saw us, and we had to drag Buffy away, because she was going to kick some beagle butt! Then when we were almost home, something suddenly slammed into my arm! I jumped and screamed, which cause Kim, who is a little edgy right now, to jump and scream, too, and then we saw that a bird had pooped on my arm! Ewwww! I scrubbed it off with a wet leaf (it was raining lightly), and asked Kim why she screamed instead of assuming a fighting stance to protect me! She said she is a girl, and girls don't charge in to fight, they scream and run! We're such girls.

Well, then when we got home, Rich still wasn't here, and Buffy went to the hall to lay down and wait for him pitifully, like she does, but she stopped, frozen, and stared at the hall floor until Rachel went to see what she was looking at. There was the corpse of a wasp laying on the floor. Rachel scooped it up on a piece of paper while Buffy nervously watched, and flinching when the corpse rolled over. Apparently our dog has insect issues.
