Labor Day
Well, things are settling down again. We had Rachel home for a couple of days and then she moved (somewhat) into the apartment in Dekalb and started a job and classes down there. Scott and Carolyn came to visit for a week, which was probably the most boring week of Carolyn's life, but oh well, she's stuck with us now! Kim has had a lovely three-day weekend and now, darn it, she has to stay up late to finish her homework that she didn't do over the weekend.
Rich caught a cold and spent most of the weekend getting sicker. I hope this isn't going to drag on for weeks like his colds sometimes do. He had planned to help Rachel move her bed to the new place today since she is sleeping on an air mattress and using laundry baskets for furniture (she says her room looks ghetto!), but he was too sick to move her today, and there was a huge thunderstorm with hail (!) this afternoon, so it just wasn't the day for moving a mattress tied to the roof of the van. I hope we'll get that moved later this week.
So Rich stayed home this afternoon and napped while Rachel and I went to the Labor Day indoor picnic at RA's house. Kim's friends Catsy and Sando came over to play video games at our house, and ate quantities of microwave popcorn, so the whole house reeked of buttery stench when I got home. It's a James Bond shooting game - I watched them play it while I knitted last night (almost done with the body of the Telemark sweater!) and it was funny at first to watch Kim, because she doesn't usually play shooter games, so if anyone got in her screen, she would start screaming and shooting wildly with her eyes closed, but she was winning the first few rounds that way!
