monkeymom's Diaryland Diary

Hoarding is a form of OCD.

Okay, I'm tired of Winter now. And everyone who has been whining about Global Warming, like it's real? Shut up. The last few Winters have been miserably cold!

Today I am annoyed with Winter, and also with American Airlines and their uncaring employees, who probably only fly with carry-ons because they know how inefficient their own system is.

Our luggage that was misplaced when we came back from LA has still not arrived at our house, thanks to the slackers and probably, socialists, at FedEx, who now say our bags will be delivered tomorrow before 4:30. Thanks so much for letting me know! I've been staying close to home and tracking our bags all week ("You'll have them in 24 hours" - the Baggage Boy at O'Hare, who didn't give us a receipt with a file number on it, so he's a liar who doesn't do his job properly either), and finally today I called FedEx and was told by a computer that the bags would be delivered tomorrow. By 4:30, thanks, so I can stay home all day and wait for them again !

I tried talking to someone at American about it, someone named Sky, and I didn't make any jokes about someone named Sky working for an airline, because I thought that would be old news to her, and in return for my kindness in not making stale jokes, she just didn't care about my luggage, and pretty much blew me off.

I went to the American Airlines website and found a place for writing a complaint, and I got a pleasant automated answer back, saying they would get back to me. Later I got a note from someone (not Sky), that said they were sorry that I was upset about not being told that my luggage would be sent by FedEx. I don't care if my luggage comes by FedEx, I don't care if it comes by dogsled (which would probably be faster), what I care about is that I've been waiting 3 days for my bags, and tomorrow will be 4 days! If I'd known I would have to wait for Santa to bring it in his sleigh, I would have gone to the airport and picked it up myself! Bastards.

In other news, Rachel strained her back shoveling her car out today and is laying around, stoned on Vicodan. Ash is going out of town tomorrow for a job, so she will be alone and crippled until he comes back. Rich is predicting that she will be limping across the stage on Sunday at nursing school graduation.

Kim is stressed beyond belief, and sick with some virus that is going around the campus. She just needs to get through another couple of weeks, and then the semester will be over and she'll be coming home. (Flying Delta, and I hope her luggage comes with her.)

What I'm knitting today:

Finished the Rocket baby sweater last night. It just needs buttons, and for me to finish weaving the ends in.

Today I started a pair of Earl Grey socks, using Knitpicks Essentials yarn in a dark blue/gray color. (I can't remember the name of the color.)

How many purses I bought yesterday:

Four, alright? I bought four purses, no wait, I only bought three. I went shopping with RA, and there were purses, and I needed at least one to trade with Rachel so I could get my good black purse back, so I picked out two and then turned around with a third and saw those other two already in the cart, and well, what the heck, I just threw in the third one. But then I was done and I walked away! I got my black purse back when Rachel came over tonight. Diana suggested that purse hoarding might be a mental illness, but I think she's wrong.
