monkeymom's Diaryland Diary

The bed in the hotel was hard like cement!

Well, we had a good trip to visit with our kids in Provo, and we even saw some family that we didn't expect to see! We got home Monday night after a LONG day of traveling, and we were glad to be home, to sleep in our own bed!

We got to Provo Thursday night, and Rich went right to work bouncing baby Soren in his little bouncy seat, and the baby settled right down, as long as we talked to him and looked at him.

Kim came over after her classes, and it was so nice to have everyone there!

Carolyn's parents got there on Friday night, and we all went out to dinner at Scott and Carolyn's favorite restaurant. Soren stayed with one of Carolyn's friends, so we had a quiet dinner!

On Saturday we just hung around the house with Scott, and Rich worked on Scott's new computer, that has been having problems. Carolyn and Soren went shopping with her parents, and then came back in the afternoon.
Her parents were going to Logan to visit family, and then planning to spend the night with her father's parents, so they left right away, and we had the baby all to ourselves!

Sunday was the day of the baby blessing, and we were a little worried in the morning because it was snowing hard. Carolyn's parents and Grandparents got there in time, though, and the blessing was very nice. Scott did a good job, and Soren slept through it. The other baby who was blessed cried all through the blessing, and I told Rich it was because they named her Brinley.

After church we all went back to the house for a big lunch and to visit with family. Aunt Marilyn and Uncle Roger and their son, my cousin David, were there (they came to the church with us), and their daughter Wendy showed up at the end. There was an aunt and uncle of Carolyn's and their kids, and her parents and grandparents, and a few of Scott and Carolyn's friends from college.

Soren was sleeping, but Carolyn got him out of bed and told him he had to stay awake so people could see him because the party was for him! He acted just fine, and finally he went to sleep on her friend Jenny's lap and we let him sleep.

When most of the party had left, Wendy took us over to see her treehouse. She says she only sleeps there, and she showers at the school where she works. Rich climbed the ladder and looked inside, cause I wasn't about to, being afraid of both heights and rickety ladders, and he says there is a foam pad and a sleeping bag, and that's all. That doesn't sound like living to me!

After that, Marilyn and Roger and David left, and we went back to the house, and stayed for a while. The kids have a really fun card game about Beans, and we were playing that every day while we were there, so we had one last game with their friend Jenny, and then it was time to go.

We said goodbye to Kim and the kids, and we went back to our hotel, and Rich went right to bed, but I couldn't sleep! Rachel called me at about 11:30, and I talked to her for a little while, but I was trying to be quiet so Rich could sleep, so we didn't talk long. I had a book to read, and I read the whole thing, and finally went to sleep at about 3 in the morning.

We got up at 6 and left the hotel before 6:30 - we had done most of our packing the night before! We turned in our rental car, and then went to the airline desk to check in and found out that our reservation was for Sunday! (It was my fault, and there is a good explaination, but I'm not going to go into it right now.) We had missed our flight!

Well, the reservation clerk got us seats on another flight that was leaving in a half hour, so we got through security check-in and hurried to the gate, and then it turned out that we didn't need to hurry because the flight was delayed for 20 minutes. So that was fine and we relaxed on the plane.

It was still snowing in SLC, and apparently was very foggy in Chicago, so the flight was delayed longer, because we wouldn't be able to land in Chicago, and we had to have the wings de-iced, and then the radio was messed up, so our plane needed a new radio, and we still couldn't land in Chicago!

So first we got a new radio, and then we got de-iced, then we needed more gas, and by the time we took off, we'd been sitting at the gate for 3 and a half hours!

We got to Chicago and it was still foggy there, and we drove home through terrible fog, but we got home at last, and Buffy was so happy to see us! Well, she was happy to see Rich, and she was happy to ignore me.

So we're home and I slept good in my own bed, and when we got up Tuesday morning it was snowing and it just kept on snowing all day! Oh my goodness, I am so tired of snow.
