monkeymom's Diaryland Diary

The vet suggested maybe it was raisins? Or anti-freeze?

I forgot to mention this, but last night when we were driving home from Southern Illinois, with Kim follwoing us in her car, Rich and I saw a fiery something drop from the sky, with sparks flying, and fall to the ground, ahead of us on the horizon. We were driving North on I-55 at the time, and we were near Bloomington. If you hear anything about a UFO landing or a meteor? Please let us know!

At the time, we both said, "Wow, did you see that?" and then I said, "I wonder if Kim saw it?" and just then my cell phone rang, and I said, "I guess she did!" Kim wrote an email to her meteorology teacher today, to see if he knows anything about it.

So Buffy has been dragging around the house listlessly for a few days, and she hasn't been eating or drinking much. We were getting worried about her, and saying she might need to go to the doctor, and then when we took her with us on the car trip last night, we got her some french fries from McDon*lds, and she sniffed them, but didn't eat any! Then we got really worried!

I got up early this morning after getting to bed very late last night, and called the vet first thing. He looked her over and he said she has lost a lot of weight, but she seems fine otherwise, so he took blood and said he'd test it and call us back later.

Well, later he called and said she has kidney failure! He suggested a couple of things to do to clean the toxins out of her blood that aren't getting filtered through her kidneys, so I went out to buy Pepcid AC and a turkey baster, for giving her water (because she doesn't want to drink), and Rich is taking care of her.

Apparently she could get better or she could die, and the doctor says it could go either way, so we just have to do what we can and see how it goes. I'm supposed to take her back in a week to check her blood again, unless she gets worse before then. The doctor says it is probably caused by something in her diet, so who knows? Too many apples? The dead squirrel on the pavement on the other side of the street? We just don't know.

In happier news, Kim is home and we've been playing AC all day! We were trying to connect over the internets and pay a visit to Ash and Rachel's town tonight, but so far we haven't been able to. We'll keep trying!
