monkeymom's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Details and dialogue.

I was taking a nap before work tonight and I woke up a couple of times during the nap to the sound of Kim practicing the harp. It was wonderful! The new harp sounds like heaven (harp, heaven, har har) and she was playing beautifully.

The horrid puppy is just continuing to piddle (and worse) all over the house. Today when I was at the grocery store I bought her a dog toy called a Kong, that is a round hollow toy, shaped like the back end of a bee, and we put some peanut butter - about a spoonful - into the hollow part and she spent a quiet 15 minutes or so licking it. Rich wants to keep it full so she will leave him alone. She is his constant companion, just like Kim when she was a baby. I have never met another man who is so attractive to children and animals.

Ruthann and I were thinking of going to Curves, but then we went to the grocery store and by the time we started home we decided that was enough exercise. Kim and Eric were at my house so they helped bring in the groceries and put them away, too.

Kim said that in Health class today the teacher was reading out loud some dialogues of a couple who are interested in each other and then encounter several dating-type situations. The kids for some reason were standing up as each dialogue was read, and then were to sit down if they agreed that the conversation was appropriate to the situation. (I know it sounds stupid, but that's how I understand it from Kim.) So apparently, each time as the dialogue was read, everyone was sitting down at the end except Kim, and the teacher would ask her what she would want to ask or add to the dialogue. For instance, one of them was inviting the other person to a movie with a group of people and the movie was one that was violent or nasty or something and the invitee didn't like it but agreed to go anyway. Kim wanted to discuss a compromise. Then there was a party that one of them invited the other to go to, and everyone sat down but Kim was standing and she said that she needed to have a little more information about that party before she would agree because she knows what parties are like! Hahaha!! At the end there was a dialogue in which one of the persons paused and then told the other one that they thought they were in love with them. Well, everyone likes to be loved, so even Kim sat down with that one, but then the teacher said to Kim, "Are you sure?" and Kim stood back up and said she thought maybe it would be better if the two of them were friends for a while and just had fun together. I was cracking up, because Kim is so cool! I like a kid who can think for herself!

I slept a lot today so not much knitting got done. I did make dinner, though, and I'm going to work on the hooded cardi at work tonight, while reading A College of Magics. It's pretty good, but it's hard to keep the book open while I read!
