monkeymom's Diaryland Diary

In which I can't knit , but Kim sings.

Day three of Rich's business trip to Las Vegas. The dog is about to collapse from missing him and was found chewing on one of my new shoes this afternoon. She appears to have found out how to open the cupboard doors to access the kitchen trash, too.

Rachel was gone all day, filling in for Ruthann, who was asked to help out in the kitchen at the missionary zone conference. Rachel was pretty excited about it, because just a year ago she was a missionary and the members were serving her at a zone conference lunch! She had fun and even met the boyfriend of one of the sister missionaries she trained in Argentina! He is currently serving in the Chicago West mission. Oh, and she asked some of the sister missionaries if they knew Kendra Eldredge, and they said she is serving in Woodstock, IL right now.

I went to lunch with Ruthann at Imperial Palace, where we shared an order of crab rangoon and then we decided to share an entree, too, instead of eating too much like we always do. We were feeling pretty noble about that, I tell you what!

We picked up Kim after school and she was crabby because some of the other harpists told her that in the playing exam today she would need to sing along with the Star Spangled Banner as she played. She said she sang the first couple of lines and then the examiner told her it wasn't necessary to sing along! The other harpists were listening outside the door and thought it was hilarious! Afterward they gave her some sheet music she has been wanting (music from Lord of the Rings) to apologize for pranking her. Apparently it was a day to prank the Freshman. I told her they must like her or they wouldn't have bothered.

I dropped Kim at home and was heading out of the driveway to an inservice at work, when Rachel got home and she said that she had gotten a phone call in the morning from her friend who is getting married in June, and she wanted to go shopping early tomorrow for bridesmaid dresses, so Rachel had to drive down to school tonight. I was sad to see her go, and not just because that meant I would have solo puppy walking duty! She'll be back on Friday, though, and we have plans to watch movies and maybe even go out to a movie!

So I had to go to an inservice at work to review how to respond to calls for the hospice nurses. That was our punishment because Larissa's Mother messed up a call last week. Sadly, she wasn't present at the meeting, having given her notice and all. A last minute addition was made to our inservice - a review of how to respond to a code blue alarm! I'm guessing we have Larissa's Mother to thank for that one, too, as a couple of hints have been dropped that there was some kind of incident when she worked last week.

Mike asked me not to knit during the inservice presentations, I suppose as a courtesy to the speakers, so I put away my knitting and gave him a hateful look. He then babbled something about making a sock for him, and said he hangs up a sock at Christmas... I said, "do you get anything in that?" in a bitchy voice.

So here I am back at work and Rich called around midnight to say he was home. I'm sure Buffy was happy to see him.
